My experience

I’ll admit: this year has felt more hectic and busy than ever. Between kids in school, traveling, and my husband being out of town, I’ve been juggling so much.

Especially, when my husband travels for work, I do my best to take care of myself. But it’s not easy. I discovered this challenge at the perfect time because I desperately needed new ideas.

Honestly, this self care challenge felt very unique. There were definitely the quintessential activities like a relaxing shower, but a lot of the activities focused on my mental health. There are times I need that more than anything else.

For example, there was one day in particular that encouraged me to write down all the things I don’t like. The rationale being that we constantly tell ourselves that we need to be happy and go with the flow.

But things go wrong, people talk to us rudely, our kids yell at us. The more we resist, the harder it can be to let go of them.

What made this self care challenge special

I don’t want to give too much away because I don’t want to spoil the emails for you. However, I have to share my favorite part of the challenge: the first email!

The self care challenge begins with having you write a love letter to yourself. What a beautiful way to take care of yourself. When I think of “self care”, I usually think of peaceful music, bubble baths, and candles.
